Very quiet 40x40x10 cooling fan for GPUJul 25, 2010

I'm using this with an Intel GMA 950 graphics chipset on an Intel Mini-ITX Atom motherboard. First I ordered a 40x40x20 fan, but it was too big for the heat sink. This 40x40x10 fan fit perfectly. Other blogs recommended Scythe very highly. I can see why. It is very quiet, much quieter than the cheap fan that came with the motherboard.
It was hard to find a fan this size. Most blogs have them listed under Case Fans, rather than motherboard or GPU fans. This is a great quality quiet fan. I had to use the 2 to 3 pin adapter that came with it. If you aren't sure, order a fan you can uses with both 2 and 3 pin connectors. My only complaint with this fan, is that it isn't clear with UV LED lighting. You can't really see the fan in my computer, but that would still make it more cool and geekier.

Nice tiny fanNov 10, 2011

My northbridge fan failed with a horrible screeching noise.
This works great. A real 3-pin would be better -- adapter works but you lose RPM sensing. Not a lot of choices at 10mm thick however.
Not sure why they call these fans quietFeb 06, 2012

Not sure why they call these fans quiet. I am hearing a constant high pitched whine since I installed these fans. I have found the original fans for my device online for less money. Your results may vary.
Video card cooling fanOct 30, 2010
By Robert T. Mcdonald This is actually not the fan I needed. I have an Nvidia Ge Force 2 card that has a frameless 40mmx40mm cooling fan that was really noisy. Since this fan was the closest to the size I needed, I took a chance. The only problem was that this fan is 10mm thick and mounting it on the heat-sink would interfere with the adjacent PCI slot. I used a coping saw to cut the corners and then the sides leaving the top frame and motor mounts. That was enough to get the fan blades down into the card's heat-sink. The noise is gone, the card doesn't burn your fingers, all is well.
Not bad, but not Exellent.Oct 03, 2010
By Ryan I wish it would have come with screws. I now it doesn't, but I though I cold find some screws easily. I was wrong. The fan works well though. Silent, Fast, Small.
