5 stars . Not bad at all.Dec 10, 2004
By A. E. Dahan What's with product sales documentation that never gives dimensions? Anyway, this item is 10in x 1.5 in x 3.5 in. It has a neat icy blue light when running: very eye catching, but its use escapes me. It has two speeds: low and high. The low speed is slightly noisy, and the high speed is very noticeable. The back edge of my ThinkPad sits on the edge of this device with two small antiskid 1/2 in sq pads. It looks precarious but it is stable. The air flow comes from above the device and flows out its side to underneath the laptop (obviously the laptop is now at an angle). The power supply is an USB cable that connects from the device to the laptop. There is another USB outlet on the device, presumably to replace the one it's occupying on the laptop. Not bad. Good value. Good conversation piece, which is not so good if you're trying to study. :) UPDATE (06/11/2006): It's still going strong after a year of regular everyday use. Just one tip: make sure the dust doesn't accumulate on the fan blades. Because this gadget uses very little juice, the motor is stressed by a moderate layer of dust, and it gets noiser. Every time you use a can of compressed air on your keyboard to clean it, give some of it to the cooler. The ROI on this little thing is not bad at all. I recommend it. (wish I could change the star rating but it seems I can't)

Blows cool air UNDER your laptopJul 28, 2006

Most laptop coolers that I have tried want to suck the air from under the laptop, and blow it out the back, or underneath the cooler (if it is a plate that the laptop sits on top of). However, most laptops draw air in from the underside (or back) and blow the heat out the sides or rear.
So those other laptop fans actually are fighting with your laptop to draw the air out from underneath.
This product's design actually draws cool air from way behind your laptop, and blows it underneath - allowing your laptop to draw nice cool air in.
I find that it works with just about any laptop - I've used it with Acers, HPs, and Compaqs, and I even use one to cool down my Motorola Cable DVR box - which gets so very hot.
I have 5 of these right now - one on each of 3 laptops, and one on the cable box, and I bought another as a spare. I've had one for over a year and a half, and it still runs great. Vacuum the fans off every few months and you're all set. Just remember to not put your laptop on the fan guards, just on the little rubber pads in front. If you place the laptop on top of the fan, you push the guard into the fan, slowing it.
Great product - recommend it highly!

I wasn't as impressed as I expected to beAug 22, 2007

I bought this cooler because of the reviews. Well, I am not sending it back yet, but I was disappointed to hear a quite noisy fan as soon as I plugged it in. Sounded like the bearings were shot on one of the fans. I tapped the fan a few times and then it stopped moving at all. I ended up messing around with it a bit more and finally got it spinning without too much noise, but I am still a bit disappointed. I don't mind the tilt concept (laptop rests half way on the fan unit and half off), but I can see that it would not work for some people. If I were making the purchase again, I think I would have bought the three fan unit with metal housing and four USB ports. That is my recommendation to anyone reading this review. Best of luck with your heat issues, no matter which fan system you select!

Four Stars- Still the bestMay 24, 2007

This fan has two speeds, the blue lights which make it oh so superbly pretty to look at and has only one flaw. I discovered that the cord is too long and sometimes because of the length it gets accidentally jerked out of my usb plug turning it off. I have tried several of these fans and although i want them all to be larger this one is the best, I can use it in my lap, laying down, on a desk. The first thrill I had was when I plugged it in and with in minutes my laptop went from overly hot to a cold key supreme surprise. This is the best fan you can find on Amazon.com and I recommend it.

One of the best laptop coolers out thereApr 12, 2011

If you're planning to buy a cooler for your laptop, this is probably your best bet. Amazingly portability, contains an extra USB slot to replace the one being used, elevates your laptop for easier keyboard use, and has great cooling ability. Compared to those in stores, this is probably the cheapest and the most reliable cooler out there. On my old laptop, a $30 Targus cooler could only bring my laptop down 2 degrees. This cooler brought it down a great 10-15 degrees. I've already got 2, and would recommend this to anyone looking to buy a laptop cooler.
