5Great Cooler and Quiet!Oct 24, 2009
By Robert
Bought this from one of the resellers for 66.49 (don't know where Amazon get's their $140+ price from). Am using it on i7 860 chip. This is one of the few coolers that has a bracket for the 1156 socket. The unit comes with two 120mm Noctua fans. I only used one and used the other to replace an Antec case fan that came with the case.

With no OC, the idle temp ranges 24-27°C. Using an Asus P7P55D motherboard and using their auto OC tuning, idle temp range jumps up about 10°C. Have only had this build up and running for two days, so I have not had a chance to do much testing. I'm not a gamer, so it should be more than adequate cooling for my needs. And it's quiet-really quiet.

Caution: this is a large heat sink and will not fit in some cases. I'm using an Antec P-183 case and have about an inch clearance between the top of the cooler and the case cover.

5Keeps my core i7-960 running coolDec 24, 2011
By Willard B. Horton "geekforlife"
I built a PC based on the Intel core i7-960 for video processing that also does double duty to power a home theater. The Noctua keeps the CPU running cool even with the strain of video editing and processing while the low noise fans are great for the home theater use.
After building numerous PC's, I highly recommend this cooler for high performance CPU's while maintaining a low noise environment. It is the best I have found for air cooling.
There is always liquid cooling for the ultimate in heat transfer, if cost is no object. But in high heat loads the external cooling fins will require a fan, and a fan outside the case is much loader than a fan inside a noise shielded PC case.

5Super Quiet and EfficientOct 01, 2011
By Thomas N. Thompson "SciFi 4evR"
I bought this to replace a liquid cooler whose pump was too loud for my use; this is installed in a custom HTPC. This PC is kept running as it is my program recorder. The liquid cooler was a Corsair; it was efficient in heat dissipation but could be heard 15 feet away in a quiet room. This unit cannot be heard when standing next to the PC: a world of difference. I use a the same unit in my main PC. Both have quad core AMD processors and 8GB Ram running Windows 7 Professional.
I highly recommend this cooler for just about any PC. CPU temperatures average 39 to 41 degress C under heavy load with ambient temps of 78 to 80 degrees F.

5Cools 20C Better Than Stock Intel I7 CPU CoolerNov 02, 2010
By upsididdle
Not only did this CPU cooler work better than the stock Intel cooler it was whisper quiet even though it has two fans. Although the cooler is heavy its motherboard backplate gives it a firm base.

The cooler attaches firmly to the CPU with well designed hardware.

Aside from the exception below, the product manual and installation directions are excellent.

The only negative is that the pictures and directions for attaching the wire clips that hold the fans in place are not clear. But the clips work well once you figure out how to attach them.

5The best coolerNov 01, 2010
By Miguel Flecha
A great cooler, silent, big, with 2 fan. I preferred to not put the cables for Low noise and ultra low noise, but it is very silent.
Awkward to install, a little dificult, and very big, so your gabinet have to be mid or full tower.
