Quiestest fan I've heardMar 20, 2006
By Kristina Diy This is indeed the quietest fan that I've heard. Running at 12v inside the closed case, I can hear it from 10 feet away, but only late at night, when everyone's gone to bed and everything else has been turned off. I can barely hear it over my 32" CRT TV.
At 7v, this fan is nearly silent, and is inaudible a foot or two from the case. Air flow is expectedly reduced at lower voltages, so you might need more fans in your case (I have four), but if they're made by Nexus, you certainly won't hear them.
Note: At 5v, the fan cannot be heard from one foot away with the case open, but air flow is too greatly diminished to be useful in most situations. I would recommend 7v; you won't be disappointed.

The sound of silenceMar 10, 2005

I have this fan in a Nexus Breeze case that I used to make a file server. The first time I powered up the case I thought it was broken, because I couldn't hear any fan noise at all. Totally Unbelievable! The file server is the biggest PC in the house, and should be the loudest, but because of this fan it is actually the quietest machine in the house. The three hard drives inside the case are louder than the fans cooling it.
