Tough mountsFeb 19, 2010

These would probably work fine for standard/modern cases. They seem very tough and take some effort to stretch. I can pull them by the tips to about 3x original length before they slip through my fingers and though I'm pulling pretty hard, they don't look ready to snap.
On the downside, they are tough to install. I had to use some heavy duty tweezers (needle nose pliers would probably be more appropriate, but I didn't want to get up) to pull the fan mount end all the way through. I had to pull a lot harder than I was comfortable with, but like I said before, they are tough and stood up to the abuse. For my particular case (an older one) they didn't actually work because the fan mount holes are slightly smaller than normal. A good way to test is to take one of those wide odd looking standard fan screws and see if it fits cleanly through the mounting hole. If it doesn't, you've got something like mine which was originally designed for a slimmer screw or rubber mount. I think the ones made by Acousti are elastic enough to work on smaller mounting holes.
