5Works better than I expected!!Jun 03, 2013
By KP Jandt
I am currently using the speed control to run cooling fans for my desk AVR,processor, equalizer, and head phone amp. One 120mm(19 to 39cfm) fan for the AVR. I built a cooler box to house the 120mm fan to match my stereo. It sets on the top of the open grill of the AVR. I have a similar set up for my Beringer equipment. I feed the processer, equalizer, and head phone amp from both my desk amp and my main stereo(TRS-1/4in connections).I use the cooling fan when running this equipment hard,it does run warm under heavy use.I can hook up to 8 head phones on the head phone amp at the same time. This speed control works well with this set up. It`s not as accurate(over the entire scale)as I would prefer, but that is`nt a deal breaker. This control works well with the fans I`m using. It has the 3 pin connectors on the secondary side of the control. I have the speed controller and the step down transformer controlled by remote control so I don`t have to get up and adjust or power up my cooling equipment for all my desk STUFF! I would recommend this speed control for home use. Good Value!

Works great! I'm using this with computer fans and a ac/dc converter to adjust the speed of the fans from day to night over my home aquarium. Note: I am not using this near water.

5Good V-SwitchMar 08, 2012

Haven't put it into service yet. However, the dial seems to have a good feel to it. Housing is cheap plastic, but mildy durable...like most all computer upgrades.... Wires are covers in an anti-abrasion sleeve.

3It works okJan 18, 2013

The speed control works, but there seems to be a big "dead zone" to where the fans won't control. It may be the fault of the fans, I do not know for sure at this point, but they are some of the higher quality computer fans.

Good Product, Great customer service.
First let me say, I had some trouble and the Coolerguys took care of it right away. 5 Star for them.

The controller does what it is supposed when connected to an appropriate power supply. I've built a cooling system for a closed entertainment cabinet that gets hot. Only thing that should be known is that the 4-pin molex connector is a little difficult to connect and could easily be damaged when connecting to the power supply. I only have to connect it once, though carefully. A closed back molex housing would make this a 5 star product for sure. Having said that, if you really wanted you could change the housing yourself for $0.50.

When I'm ready to spend 5-6 times more I'll get a temperature triggered controller. For the cheapest system, this is definitely it.
