Better than PlasticJul 22, 2007

When I replaced my P4 Northridge CPU with a P4 Prescott CPU, I needed a new retention bracket to secure the large heat sink and cooling fan. This metal bracket did the trick and is better than the plastic bracket that it replaced.

Bracket is metal and stronger than plastic and conducts heat better too. It bolts to the motherboard so you can take it with you. All hardware provided.
Motherboard processor clip review.Apr 10, 2011
By Cyber T The product works great. Metal processor retention clips should last forever. My old plastic clip cracked out of the blue, causing the processor fan to work overtime. Easy to install, just screwed onto motherboard with screws from old clip though new ones are provided. This metal clip is extremely affordable and seems to be holding up well after 2 months.
Perfect Item.Aug 20, 2010
By 1 Click PC A+ Item. Exactly what was needed! These brackets are a lot better than the snap in style. Those pop in/ snap in styles (with the little pin to hold the snaps in place) always end up backing off the and then the processor doesn't get proper cooling. Given, you need a compatible heatsink with the correct hooks to use this bracket. A+ Item.
Fixed my Problem 100%Jun 27, 2009

This product(metal)is physically superior to all other cheap retainers as the plastic one that came with my computer broke. I just installed this into the family computer and the CPU can finally touch the heat sink; no longer will the fan to come on full throttle(very quiet at the moment). Took me a while to figure i had to remove the motherboard to install the device, but once i got it together, everything went smooth and fine. As one other person mentioned, you may have to bore screw holes yourself while installing this, but keep patience and you can get it done. I'll give this a 5 since the product fixed my computer and i have faith i wont need to buy another retainer again.
