Coolerguys Thermal Fan Controller
Temperature controlled on/off switch

Great to control power to fans in your home heater or even your computer case!

Thermal sensor will turn the connected fans on at ~87°F (30°C) and leave them running until the temperature drops below ~80°F (27°C)
External probe (450mm / 18 inch in length) so that you can monitor the temperature away from the controller
Female 4 pin Molex on one side and (2) 3 pin male on the other.

If you are using this outside of a computer it requires an AC-DC adapter that has both 5V and 12V DC lines, this 2A adapter is the only one we carry that meets this requirement

- Supply Voltage: 11V - 13V & 5V DC
- Turn on temperature ~87°F (30°C)
- Turn off ~80°F (27°C)
- Can natively control 2 fans, you can add more fans using 3pin Y splitters but you must keep the combined power draw under 1000mA (1.0A)
- Green LED power light (always on)
- Size: 82 x 35 x 17mm / 3.22 x 1.37 x 0.66in
- Probe length: 450mm / 18in

5So tiny yet so effectiveSep 14, 2010
By Jason Fultz "fultzjap"
I had several misconceptions about the product when I purchased it, so I should share them so you know what you're getting.

1 - this thing is pretty tiny, you'll have no problem hiding it in just about anything. I pictured something the size of a remote control, yet it is more like the size of a matchbox car.
2 - Three pin fan outlets does not mean variable speed - the output stage of this device is on/off and the yellow 3rd pin does absolutely nothing.
3 - the thing I dreaded the most, an audible click from a relay, is totally absent in this design. It is 100% solid state with no moving parts and is dead silent. For this, I give it 5 stars.

Here's to a custom media center cabinet with temperature-sensitive cooling fans. Will post pics when complete.

5Works like a charmMay 30, 2011
By T. Lythgoe
The receiver on my surround sound is prone to overheating in an enclosed environment so I bought this sweet gadget to help me deal with the problem. Works perfectly! I don't have an actual thermometer on it but it comes on when the unit gets too hot and doesn't go off until it has cooled the unit down sufficiently. I did need to trim my fan connectors just a tad (1/32 in) to get them into the slot but that was the biggest difficulty I found besides trying to hide it out of the way in my entertainment center. Controller is very much worth it for the price.

5Just what I neededJun 02, 2010

I use 2 of these temperature contollers for 2 large solar air warmers. They work perfectly and I have had no problems with either one. In the winter when the temperature in the air warmer reaches 87 to 90 degrees, the DC fan turns on and blows the warm air into the room. They have worked perfectly for 2 years now and I recommend them for any temperature control need. Great product!!!

5Great little product, does exactly what was advertised.Dec 01, 2011

I bought this fan controller along with the matching power supply to power two fans in my entertainment center. I have electronics that are enclosed and needed to keep them cool. The fan controller works great and comes on when it gets over 86 degrees and shuts off when it gets under 80 degrees. It works as advertised and I don't have any issues
