Great Fan for a Mac Mini CabinetOct 10, 2011
By Davis_Tech We did a Mac Mini install in a cabinet and we were worried about heat.
We installed one of these to blow air in and on to blow air out.
Super happy with the purchase

Does what it saysJun 20, 2010
By Anodyne Purchased this item from CoolerGuys to keep a PS3 cool inside an A/V cabinet. Installed the fan in the upper back of the cabinet so that it pulls air directly from the PS3 exhaust. Seems to be working very well and the cabinet definitely does not have as much heat buildup. Although you can't see the back of the cabinet, the finished installation looks neat and clean.
On the downside, I think CoolerGuys quality control may need to pay better attention. The fan has the typical molded-in arrows on the housing which indicate direction of air flow, but on my fan they were incorrect - so test your fan before installation to verify which way it blows. Because of this I needed to move the finger guard from one face of the fan to the opposite, and in doing so discovered that one of the screw holes was cracked - evidently the screw was over-tightened at the factory. The hexagonal grille included in the set was not molded quite right to fit the cover plate hole, but a few bends with some pliers fixed that. There were also four adhesive rubber pads in the kit, but no explanation given as to their intended use.
In summary, however, the product is working well and moves a fair amount of air very quietly. Plugged into a USB port on my PS3 it turns on and off automatically with the PS3. I do feel the product is over-priced for what you get (mainly due to shipping costs), but I searched online and couldn't find a similar product for any less. I suggest using a Dremel tool with the Multi-Purpose Cutting Kit 565D to cut out the fan hole in your A/V cabinet.
I like it, works the way it says it does!Oct 13, 2011
By A. Khamari I install one of these in an office desk with a built-in desktop cabinet, to reduce heat buildup and help dissipating the heat outside the enclosing cabinet. The results were pretty satisfying; the installation was easy and looks clean. What I love about this fan above all is it quietness. I mean it's dead silent, I had to check if it was on or not...Amazing! If the price goes down I may get a second one as a spare, just in case.
