Good coolerJul 08, 2010
By Tim I have this cooler installed on a PNY XLR8 9800 GT EE 512MB PCI-Express 2.0 DVI + DVI Graphics Card VCG98GT5EEXEB . The stock cooler on that card was a terrible one slot no heatpipe solution. Even with a well ventilated case and re added thermal paste I got idle temps of 60C and load temps of upwards of 71C with the fan at 100%. At 100% it sounded exactly like a hair dryer, so this was not tolerable.
This cooler comes with: the cooler with preapplied adhesive and thermal paste (MX-1, which is good stuff), 4 screws, 4 washers, one PCI bracket for better airflow, 8 RAM heatsinks with pre applied thermal tape, 2 clips, a case badge, and inaccurate instructions in bad English.
Sizewise, it is not that big. I have a small card, and this was about as wide, and just about an inch and a half taller.
This cooler did not fit on my card. The holes were not far apart enough, so I could only screw in one. I screwed that in tightly, and used the two clips to secure the other side of my card. Those two clips were very tight and kept the cooler on secure. (The instruction manual shows completely different clips) I hoped that it would work well and it did.
Right now I am running it passively (no fan attached) and I am getting 38C idle and 60C load in Furmark. If you have an Antec 300 case, this cooler should fit even with a side panel fan.
I highly recommend this product (or a similar one from Arctic Cooling) if your card is sure to work. If not, I'd still try it.
didn't fit nVidia 9600GTOct 27, 2009
By Kenneth Markwardt It says it fits 9XXX series nVidia, well not mine. I have an nVidia 9600GT and the mounting holes on the card are too far apart for the small heat sink pad to attach with the screws. It looks to be constructed well and has good instructions but sadly didn't fit my card.
lower tempatureOct 05, 2008
By gosvaz You will: get the temp down in 3 degrees, and reduce the noise from your computer. This and my 120mm vents, do their job if you want a noiseless environment.
I want something like this to cool down my CPU :D
pd. Check the notes, and be sure your video card is compatible, and that you have enough space inside your pc (is bigger than my 7600GT card).
Efficient and SilentAug 15, 2008
By Jason Unger I had bought this to replace the stock cooler on my 8600GT overclocked at 680MHz. I was not expecting too much since this was a passive heatsink, but it impressed me nonetheless. With the stock heatsink my temps were between 55-60 degrees idle and 70-85 under heavy load. With the Accelero my idle temps are 40-50 and under load 60-70.
The only downside I can see to this heatsink is it's size (it's bigger than my video card) and might not fit in the case. It also takes up a PCI slot.
Works great even though it is not made for my graphics cardMar 24, 2008
By Michael I have an Nvidia 7950GT. I took off the stock cooling, and I decided to use this. Only one of the holes line up with my card for the screws to keep it in place, but it comes with clamps that allow you to hook it to the card and with the one screw in I am able to get a tight fit and keep it secure. It works exceptional. I don't know the temperatures I am running at but I know I can play all the games I was playing at the same high settings with no slowing down and no noise from the a fan being attached to the card. I am extremely happy with it.
This cooler is big. It will take up an additional spot on your tower but so did the stock cooling.
