3Nice addon for the heatsinkNov 03, 2010
By Kazesim
I got these fans for the heatsink I think 2 or 3 years ago, its a simple installation; clip the fans on and push the extra cord between the grill. Since the fans are unshielded you have to make sure none of the extra cord is blocking them and that you have plenty of room in the case - as your adding them onto a large heatsink on an already large card.

Without using any fan control software I got maybe 5C extra cooling. They eventually broke about a month ago and I had to take them off. One of the fans stopped working and when I took it off to look at it, the other fan broke off the wire. There seems to be nothing holding the fans to the wire except the solder so be careful not to pull on it or bend it too much.

Overall they are good if your one of those people that can't have too many fans, and will last a few years until you will probably replace the card anyway. Although if there are any other fans that will work on the Accelero its definitely worth looking at that.

2Quiet, but not very effectiveApr 15, 2008

I bought this to go in my Mac Pro on my Accelero S1 because my ATI X1900 XT had an overheating problem (which I'm fairly certain is due to defective hardware, but the warentee's expired). The S1 did better at cooling than the stock fan/grill, but not as much as I needed.

I was still having to use Fan Control to ramp up my fans to max to stop artifacts from my defective card.

Adding the Turbo Module I didn't notice much difference at all except on boot up after an overheat, because the turbo fans would kick in immediately and cool the card before my Fan Control software loaded to ramp up the case fans.

I have since replaced the turbo module with a 40cfm duel pci slot fan which pulls air from the bottom and expels out the back of the case, which works a LOT better, but is of course louder (which isn't really a problem since I have to crank up my case fans anyway). This solution lowered the pci bay's ambient temperature by almost 5 degrees, where as the turbo module only lowered the card's temp a degree or two and blew air into the case, disturbing the air flow from the front.
