Slim Beauty
The revolutionary heatsink design of the Freezer 7 LP reduces the size of the cooler dramatically, leaving it only 40mm slim (to the air intake level) and 263g light, almost half the weight of usual CPU coolers. With this ultra thin dimension, the Freezer 7 LP easily fits into any small chassis with limited space.

The Art of Silence
Like other ARCTIC COOLING products, low noise impellers and patented fan holder are used to minimize the noise level. Even though spinning at full load, the Freezer 7 LP generates only 0.5 Sone of noise – 71% quieter than the Intel low profile cooler.

Dimension: 109 L x 108 W x 42 H (to air intake level) / 53 H (with fan holder) mm
Weight : 263 g
Fan: 80 mm x 1
Fan Speed: 600 ?V 2000 RPM (controlled by PWM)

Like the other reviews, this started getting noisy in no time. It was a pain to install and a pain to remove. I used it on a mini-itx board and it was huge and was within fractions of an inch of not working on the board at all. If size is a consideration, I recommend a Thermaltake SlimX3 cpu cooler. I'm using a couple of them. I don't know about longevity, but they are pretty quiet and a lot better than the LP7 to mount and work with...but you do have to pull the motherboard out. I have one computer with an external power supply (no fan) and a SSD drive. The only fan in the whole pc is on the SlimX3 and the entire system is on par with the noise a cardboard box puts out. Very nice. I have it on another similar PC, but with a regular HD in it. I don't know if it is the fan, the HD, or the CD-burner, but something is louder in it than it should be. Don't know.

1die after only a few monthsJan 02, 2011

DO NOT BUY THIS HEATSINK.

This is a waste of money. I have one and it died after 3 months of use. On a lightly-used machine in a well-ventilated case. The fan bearing just wore out. Thankfully my motherboard detected the problem and stopped the machine before the CPU got destroyed by overheating.

Then fan is built as part of the hold-down frame for the heatsink. This means you cannot use any other after-market fan to replace it. You can't use a regular fan as that won't have the right hole placement to fit the mounts. Their website sells replacements for $4 and then another $4 for shipping. That'd be $8 more down the drain, only to get the same poorly designed and made fan. Um, no.

Wait, it gets worse...

I tried to pull the pins out that hold the mounting brackets to the motherboard AND THEY BROKE OFF. Arrrrggggghh! So now instead of being able to just swap out the whole thing I now have to remove the entire motherboard from the case. Just to get to the underside to push out the stubs of the broken pins. What a HUGE waste of my time!

So to anyone looking to buy this heatsink I want to *strongly* discourage you from buying it. It's much too cheaply made and poorly designed. Save yourself the aggravation and buy from another manufacturer instead.

1Pushpins sound great, but in practice are awfulSep 08, 2009

I was hoping this would be as advertised and be an easy pop in install as a result of the pushpins. It instead was a horrific waste of time and I ended up tossing the fan never getting a proper install.
