 It definitely does cleanSep 13, 2009
I bought this for a repair on my X-Box RRoD Issue... It did it's work, and my X-Box lasted a few months before returning to the RRoD... I have and will try to rinse and repeat this again and hopefully this is an isolated incident.

This kit will clean and prepare your CPU or heatsink in order to apply the thermal paste. It is a no-sense product. Can be used several times.

Great for cleaning off old thermal compound Dec 22, 2008
This is a really great kit for removing old thermal compound and preparing the chip and heatsink surfaces for new thermal paste. I've used this stuff quite a few times, and it works really, really well. The remover is quite powerful, and will remove even stubborn, ancient paste that's gotten as hard as glue. I've used this to remove maybe types of thermal paste, including the amazingly tough stuff that was under my Asus Formula X48 motherboard's northbridge. The surface cleaner is really nice and helps clear away any traces of debris or remnants of the old compound. This stuff just works, and for the price, is a must have if you're building a computer or installing a new CPU.

Bought for cleaning off some cooling compound on a pre-installed heatsink. Does a great job of creating a clean surface for thermal paste.
